Charles Wang is a native of Nanjing China. During the Cultural Revolution of the late 1960's, Charles spent ten years in a remote area of Jiangsu Province working in a small village doing farm work. Later, after the end of the Cultural Revolution, Charles returned to Nanjing and entered Nanjing Agricultural University majoring in Agricultural Economics. With the encouragement of one of his advisers, he applied to do graduate work in Agricultural Economics at Iowa State University. Charles came to Iowa in 1985 and attended Iowa State. In 1990, Charles started Ten Square International in Ames, Iowa. In the late 1990's, Charles and his family started a sister company called Jiangsu Ten Square, chartered in China. Today Jiangsu Ten Square employs fifty people. Charles enjoys travel and learning new things. He spends about half of his time in China, and the other half in the U.S. One item on Charles's to do list is to write a book translating American jokes into Chinese.

Kit Spangler

Kit Spangler was born and reared on a farm in southeast Iowa. After graduating from Iowa State University with a B.S. in Dairy Science, Kit returned to the family dairy farm which he and his family owned and operated for twenty eight years.  In the late 1980's, Kit returned to graduate school at the University of Iowa, earning a Masters Degree in Asian Civilizations. Kit studied three years of Mandarin Chinese as well as Modern Chinese History, focusing on Chinese agricultural policy and reforms.  In 2004, he joined Ten Square as Director of Marketing and Sales. Kit's main responsibilities include interfacing with U.S. companies. Kit's family includes his wife Mary, a program technician at the Madison County Farm Service Agency, and two grown children.

Stacy Novak

Administrative Assistant

Stacy Novak is Ten Square's very important administrative assistant. Stacy brings a great enthusiasm for international work. Stacy first experienced international travel as a People to People Student Ambassador to Australia. Stacy is a recent graduate of the American Institute of Business with an Associates Degree in Business Administration, Sales and Marketing. She has been active in SIFE (Student In Free Enterprise) at AIB. Her team placed in the top twenty at the national level SIFE contest in the entrepeneur division of SIFE, and the Rookie of the Year contest at regional competition in Minneapolis. Stacy plays a large role in producing promotional material for Ten Square to use in China. Stacy is an active volunteer in the Des Moines area, regularly volunteering at the Science Center of Iowa, and the Make a Wish Foundation at the Jolly Holiday Lights festival at Waterworks Park. Stacy's most important quality is her patience as she deals with teaching Kit computer skills. She is also the friendly voice that answers the phone.
